The Congressional French Caucus and the 80th Anniversary of D-Day
SUMMARY
A journey back in time to moments of great heroism and joy in French history . Last night, crowds gathered on the lawn of the French Ambassador’s Residence in Washington, D.C. to witness a reenactment by Task Force Geronimo that that moved from the storming of the beaches of Normandy through the liberation of Paris. Curator and WWII expert Frank A. Blazich Jr. narrated the scene, and the French Embassy choir sang out La Marseillaise to emulate the electric happiness felt at the end of the war in the French capital. Guests of honor included six WWII veterans, Co-chair of the French caucus Rep. Joe Wilson and Rep. Nancy Pelosi.
